Google's Gemini AI is available in Gmail to assist with email composition and summarization.

A new Gemini AI side panel that can assist with email writing and thread summarization is being released by Google for Gmail. Additionally, the Gemini side panel is being added by the firm to Drive, Docs, Sheets, and Slides. The new features were released soon after Google unveiled them at its I/O developer conference last month, which was mostly focused on the company's upcoming AI products.

Thanks to this new connection, you may utilize Gemini in Gmail to obtain email drafting assistance or suggested replies. Additionally, you may search your Google Drive files or emails within your inbox for specific information and ask questions.

Google points out that you can ask your own questions in Gmail, even though Gemini will offer suggestions to get you started. You may ask Gemini, for example, "What was the PO number for my agency?" Another question to pose is, "How much did the company spend on the most recent marketing event?"

Customers of Google Workspace with a Gemini Business or Enterprise add-on, a Gemini Education or Education Premium add-on, or a Google One AI Premium subscription are the only ones who can use these capabilities.

The Gemini side panel in Docs can assist you with idea generation, information summarization, and article creation. Additionally, material based on other files can be produced. Gemini can assist you with creating new slides, personalized pictures, and summarizing presentations in Slides.

You can manage and arrange your data in Sheets with the use of the Gemini panel. Additionally, you can produce formulas, make tables, and receive assistance with certain tasks. The Gemini panel in Drive provides rapid project data and document summaries.

Similar to the Gmail Gemini panel, using the features in Docs, Slides, Sheets, and Drive requires you to be a premium Gemini member.

The most recent digital behemoth to incorporate generative AI capabilities into its widely used products and services is Google. While Apple just announced that it is bringing generative AI features to its applications and services, including Siri, Messages, Mail, and Notes, Meta brought their AI chatbot to Instagram and WhatsApp earlier this year.

It is possible that not everyone is happy with the current trend of incorporating AI into commonplace goods. Apple's planned AI features generated enthusiasm, but when Meta introduced their AI chatbot to Instagram search, there was backlash. For the most part up until now, users have been able to stay away from generative AI tools like OpenAI's ChatGPT. But it will become more difficult to avoid generative AI as the big internet companies integrate AI into their regular apps and services.
