Google Photos Magic Editor Arrives with more iphones and Android Phones

Owners of the Pixel 8 and 8 Pro smartphones were able to access Google's AI-powered Magic Editor through the Google Photos app last year. The tech behemoth now claims that it is gradually making its way to iPhones, other Android phones, including Pixel 6 and 7 phones.

Google claims that users of Magic Editor do not need to be expert editors to create intricate edits. It can accomplish this by utilizing a variety of AI strategies, such as generative AI. As Google notes, it is difficult to get the perfect shot. However, users can simply alter an image with Magic Editor. For example, they can move an object or person to a different area in the photograph to give it a more distinctive look, or they can relocate a subject to better frame the scene.

Users of Magic Editor can also modify the background, including the sky, by using presets like Stylized or Golden Hour. Magic Editor takes a little while to process the changes, so there is a lag between making the chosen alteration and seeing the finished result.

Owners of other Android phones and iOS devices will only be able to save 10 modified photographs per month, even though Magic Editor will be free to use on Pixel devices. Owners of such devices will need to subscribe to Google One's 2TB cloud storage plan ($9.99 per month) if they want to use Magic Editor for limitless saves.

As at the time of writing, neither the iPhone 15 Pro nor the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra had Magic Editor installed. For those who are in a similar situation, please be patient as it will take some time for all phones that satisfy the standards to be rolled out. Google states that the smartphone must run Android 8.0 or later and have a 64-bit processor with at least 4GB of RAM (no information on whether version of iOS would be required).
