After the release of GPT-4o, ChatGPT's mobile app revenue had its largest increase to date.

The launch of GPT-4o caused ChatGPT's mobile app revenue to soar to its highest level yet. There is a growing consumer desire for the newest AI technologies. Even though the GPT-4o flagship model is freely available on the web, its release has resulted in the company's largest-ever surge in mobile revenue. The GPT-4o model, which was released on May 13, is significantly more powerful than the previous model because it can handle text, audio, and video in addition to providing real-time responsiveness and a variety of expressive voice options. According to recent data from app intelligence company Appfigures, this technological advancement is also encouraging more users to upgrade to OpenAI's paid subscription.

Although OpenAI stated that GPT-4o would be available to users on its free tier, users of its ChatGPT mobile app were not included in this guarantee. Rather, those who wish to test out OpenAI's most recent release are being encouraged to subscribe to ChatGPT Plus, a monthly subscription that costs $19.99.

The largest-ever revenue rise OpenAI has yet witnessed on mobile devices is the result of that strategic choice, which is driving up demand for subscriptions among mobile users.

According to Appfigures, the net revenue of the ChatGPT mobile app increased by 22% on the day of the GPT-4o launch and kept rising in the days that followed. Tuesday's net sales reached $900,000, almost twice the $491,000. daily average for the app. (The net revenue amount is determined following the deducting of commissions from Apple and Google.)

The last largest surge for ChatGPT occurred in April, although it was far smaller and consisted only of one day of unusually high revenue rather than a significant increase.

From May 13 to May 17, the ChatGPT mobile app generated $4.2 million in net revenue on both the App Store and Google Play, according to the firm. This is the app's biggest revenue spike to date. The increase in income suggests that, although costing more than a Netflix membership, there is genuine customer demand for testing out the newest AI initiatives, especially on mobile devices.

81% of the new revenue came from Apple's App Store, with $1.8 million coming from the U.S. being the largest market. Canada ($134,000), Korea ($123,000), Brazil ($117,000), Australia ($102,000), Turkey ($89,000), Germany ($282,000), the United Kingdom ($212,000), Japan ($210,000) and France ($147,000), were the other top nations.
